Conference Abstract: Intersecting spaces between family and school
Educational inequalities arise in the space between school and family. Although both are usually understood as separate institutions with different logics and functions, it seems however plausible to assume similarities and overlaps in the practices of both institutions. Since educational inequality is reproduced neither only in school nor exclusively in families, the lecture explores those practices in which educational inequalities are processed in the intersecting space between family and school. These theoretical considerations are discussed empirically by using exemplary ethnographic studies, with a particular focus on the relation of educational practices between school and family.
